Taylor Rail has the experienced resources and capacity to deliver rail infrastructure solutions to private and mainline rail customers across the eastern seaboard of Australia.

We consult with customers and advise on the most appropriate and effective solutions, delivering services from design to implementation, then a complete maintenance service for the life of the customer asset.

Our service differentiator is that we recommend solutions based on practical experience and “know how” in the rail business, and we understand the importance of the investment our rail customers make in their assets and how to best protect that investment.

1. Who is Taylor Rail?

Taylor Rail Australia Pty Ltd has more than 42 years of experience offering rail infrastructure services to the Australian rail sector. Formerly Taylor Railtrack, TRA has been growing significantly over the past few years as a result of strong customer demand in both the private and public rail sector. Renowned for inspection and maintenance service excellence, TRA now offers a complete set of services from design to completion across the Eastern States with 3 offices in NSW and offices in Victoria and Queensland. TRA has made a significant and ongoing commitment to investment in plant and equipment and operates both as a direct contractor and a sub contractor when required.

2. What does TRA do?

TRA is a turn key rail services company – design to construct, inspect to maintain (including resurfacing) – offering end to end solutions for public and private customers.

3. How big is TRA?

TRA operates across the eastern seaboard with offices in Melbourne, Southern NSW, Sydney, the Gunnedah Basin and Brisbane.

In 2009, TRA installed over 10,000 sleepers throughout NSW, successfully completed large resurfacing contracts with ARTC, ran inspection and maintenance programs across 51 sites for 29  clients, and completed successfully a continuous rail welding program on 40km of track in rural NSW using the Railtech one shot method and the Thermit Elite welding method.

4. Does TRA have a Safety Management System?

Yes, TRA has developed an effective SMS integrated with an overall Quality Assurance System, Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management System. The TRA management system is audited and inspected regularly and all SWMS are revised and updated annually, last certified by ITSR in May 2010 – and AS/NZ ISO 9001 compliant.

5. Does TRA have an Environmental policy?

Yes, the Environmental Management System has been aligned to the format used in the following Australian Standards:
• AS/NZS ISO 14001: Environmental management systems – requirements with guidance for use.

The Environmental System applies to the day-to-day Environmental Management of TRA and does not limit or detract from the responsibilities contained within current legislation pertaining to the Environment.

TRA is committed to aligning the company with best practice controls and procedures to reduce or eliminate Environmental incident during operations and to manage environmental incidents by developing a relationship where management and employees work together in a coordinated manner to achieve this goal.

6. Does TRA have an employment training scheme?

TRA Company Training Policy is that the training requirements of all personnel are identified at staff induction stage and recorded in Personnel Records and logged in the TRA Training Schedule. The difference between required skills and competencies and actual skills and competencies are defined on an ongoing basis and training is structured and delivered by trainers competent to deliver training at the required level. Where the expertise in specialised areas to train personnel is inadequate in TRA, external trainers are contracted. Records of all training delivered are subject to Management Review and the training schedule is revised on an ongoing basis.
